“Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events that are apparently causally unrelated occurring together in a meaningful manner. To count as synchronicity, the events should be unlikely to occur together by chance.” Wikepedia
Having read an insightful article on the Power of Thoughts and the Written Word, which explains how words actually change the molecular structure of water, I set about my day with a great attitude—firing on all cylinders. A blog post that was just about completed (minus some video that was too shaky to use) was almost finished. I had edited and struggled with it multiple times and within seconds of hitting the publish button, the phone rang.
Now mind you, when I’m in article-writing mode, unless there is a fire or one of my kids is in trouble, don’t bother me. I’m “inside-my-computer” mode. I’ll ignore distractions and usually bite your head off if you interrupt me.
When the phone rang it startled me, and I ignored it. Three minutes later it rang again, so I checked the caller ID and answered my mother-in-law’s call. She hadn’t slept well the night before and needed a ride to the hair salon. Sigh!
However, rather than growling through the “taxi service” chore, I employed the power of thought, shifted my focus 180 degrees, took a d-e-e-p breath, flashed on the example of the water, shut down the computer and stepped into the gorgeous San Diego day to drive her to the appointment.
As I waited for her, I reviewed my article once again on the cell phone. There were two errors and I could not figure out how to correct them via the phone. Again, rather than coming unglued (several people had already made comments, so they would see that I was less than perfect), I closed the phone and meditated for a few minutes.
Following her appointment she was hungry and she insisted that we share lunch. The Red Door was a quaint uptown restaurant we had never been to in a part of town I didn’t frequent, but it had a pleasant atmosphere. We enjoyed a leisurely 1.5 hour lunch—I love her stories, and I took a picture of her next to an entire wall of wine bottles.
As we were leaving, I heard someone yell, “Darlene, Darlene!” There was a friend who I had lost contact with over twenty years ago. She’s just the key to a piece of the puzzle that I need in my life right now. Shortly thereafter when we spoke, my friend confirmed that she had never been at The Red Door either, nor does she frequent that part of town.
This experience left me in awe of how the Universe (God, Buddha or however you envision your higher power) operates. I am in control … My thoughts affect the outcome … Meeting this friend was no accident. Had I been a curmudgeon through the four hours my mother-in-law and I spent together, I firmly believe that this connection would never have happened.
This simple, powerful experience represents a life-changing event. Thanks for sharing it with me!
Carpe diem,
Dar

Hahaha, I feel like you get me, Darlene… More importantly, though, way to keep it positive! I love hearing great Law of Attraction stories and I’d say this most definitely qualifies… Thought power!!!

Hi Darlene, what a fantastic outcome. A perfect example of how synchronicity happens when we are in the flow. Your mother in-law was a pawn in the Universes plan to re-unite you with your friend. Very cool. I agree, if you’d not handled the whole distraction so graciously the outcome would not have been such a positive one. Love it
Cheers Toni

Thanks, Judy. It’s an honor to share with you. Isn’t it amazing how often synchronicity pops up when you are on the lookout for it!

Great story Darlene, I believe all things happen for a reason and people come into your life to help bring meaning and purpose. Your day interrupted turned out to be a good thing. Not only that, but the next time you get interrupted and feel the need to be a “curmudgeon” (love that word)
you’ll remember the reward received for having a great outlook on the last time you got interrupted. Thanks for sharing this because we all need a reminder that sometimes a little attitude adjustment can go a long way.

Darlene,
The experience you had really makes me believe even more in the law of attraction and good karma! And you were able to enjoy the entire experience since you intentionally remained positive.
Your post is very well written and empowering.
You’re doing a great job of filling your blog with good content.
I look forward to learning more from you!
Thank you!

Thanks Darlene! Law of Attraction is so powerful. It’s so important to be aware of the opportunity that is available from each message.
It’s not coincidence that I saw this post the day I created a post on luck and seizing the opportunity by being aware.

Darlene,
Another wonderful post from you. It truely is amazing how things happen and I am so glad that you were able consciously change your mindset and be positive before going to pick your mother in law up.
I think you just proved to yourself how truely powerful being positive can be, in that split second judgement of deciding who you were going to be, you had a really great life changing experience.
I am so grateful that you shared this with me, because for the last 3 days I have been ill and feeling really down in the dumps. But after reading your post I was uplifted and just wanted to say that I get so much positive energy from your posts and everyone else involved in the TSA movement and that I really appreciate what you are doing.
God Bless

I have a hard time ignoring the phone so I applaud you for your concentration. I am a very social person so I always look and see who it is every time it rings. God has a hand in every aspect of life so seeing your friend was also part of his plan for you that day.(my beliefs)
Thanks for sharing.

To think that I might not have followed your link from FB to this gracious article. Thanks, Darlene, for putting this right on “my” page. You provided me today with just another great reason to enlarge one’s’ circle of friends.
